One of the biggest fears that most people are afraid of facing when going out on a date is that they will run out of things to talk about. Nobody likes awkward silences; simply because it makes you feel, well, awkward. There are many ways in which you can prevent this from happening. Here are a few conversation techniques that will get you started;

One of the most effective conversation techniques to use is by asking fill-in questions. In other words, as the conversation moves along, every now and then, whenever there is a slight pause, throw in another question about whatever that person had said in the conversation. By doing this, you are keeping the conversation going indefinitely. With this technique, you will never run out of questions as there is always something to ask. Another thing that you will find this technique is that the subject itself can gradually change over time.

Though this is a very powerful method, you have to be careful not to overdo it. In order to achieve this successfully, you have to be careful of the time intervals between each question. In other words, you want the person to talk for a while about a particular subject before throwing in the next question. When you do throw in a question, make sure that it is relevant to the topic, otherwise it sounds like you are trying to change the subject, which can sound very rude.

Whenever you ask your partner any type of question, always avoid those personal questions that can put your date on the line. In other words, stay away from questions with the following type of phrases; "Am I your type?", "how am I doing so far?" and so forth. These type questions will do nothing more than remind yourself and your date that this is a date you are on and not just a fun social event.

Yes, it is true that you are on a date, but what you want it to be is a fun social event so that the two of you can relax together and enjoy the evening building a rapport in a natural environment. As soon as you remind the other that you are on a date with them, things can become awkward, especially if you put them on the spot with these types of questions.

By using these tips, you will be able to enjoy a full dating session without ever having to worry about any of those awkward silences.
